Muslim pleads guilty to marrying 14-year-old girl

Did you know that a 14-year-old child can legally marry in New York State?

Child marriages are happening all over the West because of numerous loopholes. Child brides are a norm in many Muslim states, and when appalling incidents such as the one reported below leak out, they serve as a reminder of how much Islamic doctrine has spread and taken root in the West, where women should be safe and protected by universally accepted principles of human rights. Women and young girls suffer the most under sharia — a fact that Western feminists pretend doesn’t exist.

“Melbourne man pleads guilty to marrying 14yo bride in wedding at Noble Park”, ABC News Australia, April 18, 2017:

A 34-year-old Melbourne man has cried in court while pleading guilty to illegally marrying a 14-year-old bride in an Islamic wedding last year.

Mohammad Shakir pleaded guilty to going through a formal ceremony of marriage with a person not of marriageable age at Noble Park last September.

The “wedding” was conducted by former imam Ibrahim Omerdic.

As part of Shakir’s plea, two charges were withdrawn by prosecutors in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

They included allegations Shakir had sex with the girl between September 30 and October 1, following their wedding.

Shakir, who has been in custody for six months, shed tears after entering his plea during what was to be a pre-trial committal hearing.

He was helped in court by a Burmese interpreter.

The complainant, who was in court, also wiped tears from her eyes.

Imam charged over child marriage
Omerdic, 61, is charged with conduct that caused a minor to enter into a forced marriage.

The Muslim cleric, who was Imam of the Bosnian Islamic Society and Noble Park Mosque, has since been sacked.

At the time, the Board of Imams Victoria issued a statement against forced and child marriages.

“Underage marriages are illegal in Australia. As Australian Muslims we are required to observe and respect the laws of Australia,” the statement said.

The board said imams should meet both the bride and groom in person before the marriage ceremony to ensure they are of marriageable age and both consented……

1500 cases of child marriage among Muslim migrants in Germany

What exactly did the Germans expect? Few things are more abundantly attested in Islamic law than the permissibility of child marriage. Islamic tradition records that Muhammad’s favorite wife, Aisha, was six when Muhammad wedded her and nine when he consummated the marriage:

“The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death)” (Bukhari 7.62.88).

Another tradition has Aisha herself recount the scene:

The Prophet engaged me when I was a girl of six (years). We went to Medina and stayed at the home of Bani-al-Harith bin Khazraj. Then I got ill and my hair fell down. Later on my hair grew (again) and my mother, Um Ruman, came to me while I was playing in a swing with some of my girl friends. She called me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted to do to me. She caught me by the hand and made me stand at the door of the house. I was breathless then, and when my breathing became all right, she took some water and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, “Best wishes and Allah’s Blessing and a good luck.” Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah’s Apostle came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age. (Bukhari 5.58.234).

Muhammad was at this time fifty-four years old.

Marrying young girls was not all that unusual for its time, but because in Islam Muhammad is the supreme example of conduct (cf. Qur’an 33:21), he is considered exemplary in this unto today. And so in April 2011, the Bangladesh Mufti Fazlul Haque Amini declared that those trying to pass a law banning child marriage in that country were putting Muhammad in a bad light: “Banning child marriage will cause challenging the marriage of the holy prophet of Islam, [putting] the moral character of the prophet into controversy and challenge.” He added a threat: “Islam permits child marriage and it will not be tolerated if any ruler will ever try to touch this issue in the name of giving more rights to women.” The Mufti said that 200,000 jihadists were ready to sacrifice their lives for any law restricting child marriage.

Likewise the influential website Islamonline.com in December 2010 justified child marriage by invoking not only Muhammad’s example, but the Qur’an as well:

The Noble Qur’an has also mentioned the waiting period [i.e. for a divorced wife to remarry] for the wife who has not yet menstruated, saying: “And those who no longer expect menstruation among your women, if you doubt, then their period is three months, and [also for] those who have not menstruated” [Qur’an 65:4]. Since this is not negated later, we can take from this verse that it is permissible to have sexual intercourse with a prepubescent girl. The Qur’an is not like the books of jurisprudence which mention what the implications of things are, even if they are prohibited. It is true that the prophet entered into a marriage contract with A’isha when she was six years old, however he did not have sex with her until she was nine years old, according to al-Bukhari.

child marriageOther countries make Muhammad’s example the basis of their laws regarding the legal marriageable age for girls. Article 1041 of the Civil Code of the Islamic Republic of Iran states that girls can be engaged before the age of nine, and married at nine: “Marriage before puberty (nine full lunar years for girls) is prohibited. Marriage contracted before reaching puberty with the permission of the guardian is valid provided that the interests of the ward are duly observed.”

According to Amir Taheri in The Spirit of Allah: Khomeini and the Islamic Revolution (pp. 90-91), Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini himself married a ten-year-old girl when he was twenty-eight. Khomeini called marriage to a prepubescent girl “a divine blessing,” and advised the faithful to give their own daughters away accordingly: “Do your best to ensure that your daughters do not see their first blood in your house.” When he took power in Iran, he lowered the legal marriageable age of girls to nine, in accord with Muhammad’s example.

“Germany Moves To Ban Child Marriages After Finding 1500 Cases Among Refugees,” by Jacob Bojesson, Daily Caller, April 5, 2017:

The German government agreed on a proposal Wednesday to outlaw child marriages after finding more than 1,500 cases of immigrant minors having adult spouses.

The Central Register of Foreign Nationals has documented a surge in child marriages in recent years. As of July 2016, 1,500 minors of non-German background were registered as married, including 361 under the age of 14.

The largest group of child brides, 664 minors, come from Syria followed by Afghanistan and Iraq….

Turkey votes to make child rape LEGAL for men who MARRY their victims

Obama has boasted on more than one occasion that he calls President Recip Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey for his advice on how to raise his daughters, Malia and Sasha. Obama praised Erdogan and said this:

“And I also appreciate the advice he gives me, because he has two daughters that are a little older than mine — they’ve turned out very well, so I’m always interested in his perspective on raising girls.”

Obama has said Erdogan was his “favorite” and “most trusted” ally.

Erdogan has spoken out against contraception, describing it as “treason” when speaking at a wedding ceremony. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said women cannot be treated as equal to men and now Erdogan calls women who work, “half-persons.”

Obama goes to him for advice on raising girls. This is who has been running our country for the last eight years.

Donald Trump appointed Steve Bannon to a senior position, and there is a chorus of condemnation from the media.

Barack Obama considering a friend and confidante someone who will legalize statutory rape — no problem. That’s the hypocrisy of the media.

“Fury as Turkey votes to make child rape LEGAL for men who MARRY their victims,” by Nick Gutteridge, Express, Nov 19, 2016:

In a move which has shocked world politicians, the Muslim majority country proposed exonerating paedophiles en masse.

Hardline president Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government insists that the new law is designed to pardon men who did not realise they were having sex with underage girls.

But critics have reacted with open fury to the legislation, saying it officially legitimises both deliberate child rape and forced child marriages.

It comes after a shocking rise in violence against women in Turkey, which has risen by 40 per cent in the past decade.

Opposition MP Ozgur Ozel raged: “Sexual abuse is a crime and there is no consent in it. This is what the AKP fails to understand.

“Seeking the consent of a child is something that universal law does not provide for.”

MPs will have a second vote on the new legislation on Tuesday at which point, if the ballot goes the same way, it will be officially passed into Turkish law.

It is estimated that the change in the law would quash the convictions of some 3,000 men accused of assaulting an under-18.

The government says this will happen if their act was committed without “force or threat” and if the aggressor marries the victim with the consent of their family.

Bill Banning Pedophilia Fails — Deemed ‘un-Islamic’

Islamic apologists in the West argue furiously that child marriage has nothing to do with Islam, and that the idea that Muhammad married a child is the invention of greasy Islamophobes. In reality, few things are more abundantly attested in Islamic law than the permissibility of child marriage. “Bill banning child marriage fails in Pakistan after it’s deemed ‘un-Islamic,’” by Ishaan Tharoor, Washington Post, January 15, 2016:

Pakistani lawmakers had to withdraw a bill aimed at curbing the practice of child marriage after a prominent religious body declared the legislation un-Islamic.

The bill, which proposed raising the marriage age for females from 16 to 18, also called for harsher penalties for those who would arrange marriages involving children. Despite the laws in place, child marriages, particularly involving young female brides, are common in parts of the country. It’s estimated that some 20 percent of girls in the country are married before they turn 18.

But the Council of Islamic Ideology, a constitutional body which gives advice to parliament on the compatibility of laws with Sharia, appeared to slap down the legislation after deeming it “un-Islamic” and “blasphemous,” according to Agence France Presse….

In 2013, reports AFP, “it suggested making DNA inadmissible evidence in rape cases, instead calling for the revival of an Islamic law that makes it mandatory for a survivor to provide four witnesses to back their claims.”…

That’s not just an “Islamic law” that some want to “revive”; that’s a Qur’anic directive (24:4, 24:13).

Clerics on the council object to minimum age requirements, arguing instead that an individual can marry once reaching puberty, which can be as early as the age of 9.

Nine, eh? Why did they decide on age nine?
