“REVEALED: Iraqi refugee who planned to carry out terror attacks with bombs he built in Las Vegas was caught in elaborate FBI sting teaching agents to make IEDs with skills he learned in Iraq,” by Ryan Parry, Dailymail.com, October 30, 2018:
An Iraqi refugee living in the US built two homemade bombs in a Las Vegas condominium which he planned to use in a deadly terror attack, DailyMail.com can reveal.
But Ahmad Suhad Ahmad was thwarted by the FBI because the bureau had set up the whole thing as an elaborate sting operation, according to bombshell court documents.
Ahmad is accused of showing undercover FBI agents how to connect the blasting caps and where to place the C-4 on the bombs – intended to hit a target in Mexico.
According to the paperwork filed at the US District Court in Tuscon, Arizona, Ahmad, is also accused of teaching ‘the making and use of an explosive, destructive device, or weapon of mass destruction’, to another person between March and April, 2017.
He allegedly provided an undercover FBI operative with homemade bomb recipes and taught them how to construct ‘remote-detonating bombs’.
Ahmad told a confidential FBI source how to detonate a bomb using a cell phone with a removable battery – a trick he said he learned during the war in Iraq, the papers allege.
‘Ahmad said the bombs were easy to make,’ it states.
FBI operatives say they met with Ahmad at his apartment in Tucson and asked him to show them how to make a car bomb to hit a target in Mexico – to which Ahmad agreed.
During April 4 and April 26, 2017 Ahmad met on numerous occasions with multiple undercover FBI agents in Tucson to discuss the plans for building the bomb.
DailyMail.com has exclusively obtained the court documents and learned that Ahmad was arrested at his home in Tucson on Monday in an FBI swoop….
‘On April 13, 2017 Ahmad showed CS3 (Confidential Source 3) homemade bomb instructions on his cell phone and promised to translate them,’ the paperwork states. Ahmad then met CS3 three days later in his car outside an apartment complex in Tucson.
‘Ahmad explained some of the equipment he would need to build the bomb and that he had been studying up on how to build the explosive,’ the papers state. ‘Ahmad sent CS3 a text message with a bomb recipe written in Arabic.
‘The recipe consisted of a multi-step process to make a landmine or improvised explosive device (IED).’…
On his Facebook he posted a photo of himself with three children, with the graphic, ‘I stand with Refugees’. A hearing in Ahmad’s case is expected to take place Wednesday at the US District Court in Tucson….
