Pope Francis changes tune, praises Sweden’s moratorium on immigration

Pope Francis has made it a personal duty to be defender of Islam, and less than a week ago, he stated that “fear of migrants is making us crazy.” Now the Pope has issued a new, astonishing statement, saying that “a ruler must use prudence, because prudence is the virtue of those who govern.” Yet this prudence has been the focus of so-called populists who opposed the reckless immigration policies the Pope has so often endorsed.

Pope Francis stated that Sweden is “an example of a country that had accepted many migrants in the past but realized recently that the migrants coming in were becoming ghettoized rather than integrating in Swedish society.” The Pope further stated that “unassimilated migrants can lead to a dangerous ‘ghettoization’, which is bad for the migrants themselves as well as the nation.” The Pope is now praising Sweden’s moratorium on immigration, after being for a considerable period one of the foremost defenders of open borders, despite not himself leading by example and opening the doors to the Vatican to everyone. Now he has inexplicably made a U-turn, recognizing that the refusal of many Muslim migrants to integrate is indeed a problem, however he may ultimately minimize the seriousness of that problem.

The Pope has good reason to change his tune. “Rising numbers of mostly Islamic immigrants in Sweden had led to the development of Muslim-controlled ‘no-go zones’ where law enforcement fears to enter,” and where 80% of Swedish police want to quit over the dangers Muslim migrants pose to their safety.

“Pope Francis Praises Sweden’s Moratorium on Immigration,” by Thomas D. Williams, Breitbart, January 29, 2019:

Countries that are unable to assimilate migrants should stop accepting more until they are able to integrate them, Pope Francis told reporters on the papal plane Monday.

The pope put forward Sweden as an example of a country that had accepted many migrants in the past but realized recently that the migrants coming in were becoming ghettoized rather than integrating in Swedish society, and so put a moratorium on accepting more.

“A ruler must use prudence, because prudence is the virtue of those who govern,” Francis told reporters during a press conference returning from Panama.

“I am reminded of the example of Sweden, which took in many migrants escaping from dictatorships in Latin America in the 1970s, but all of them were integrated,” he said.

“But last year the Swedes said stop for a while because we are unable to finish the integration process. And this is the prudence of the ruler,” Francis said.

While praising the “generosity” of nations such as Italy, Greece, and Lebanon in receiving migrants and refugees, the pope said that more “realism” was needed.

“The way to solve the problem of migration is to help the countries where migrants come from,” he said. “They come because of hunger or war. Invest where there is hunger. Europe is capable of doing this, and this is a way to help those countries grow.”

Despite the pope’s well-known vocal advocacy for immigration, this is not the first time he has suggested that there are important limits.

Returning from Sweden itself in November 2016, Francis suggested that playing host to unassimilated migrants can lead to a dangerous “ghettoization,” which is bad for the migrants themselves as well as the nation.

On that occasion as well, the pope counseled prudence in determining how many migrants should be received by a given country.

The pope’s words followed on a meeting with an unnamed government official who informed Francis that Sweden was experiencing difficulties integrating the large numbers of migrants who are arriving into the country…….

Thousands of Muslims demand Nike withdraw Air Max trainers “that have Allah written on the sole”

In the past weeks, UK Muslims started a petition for a boycott of Marks and Spencer over toilet paper that enraged them because they claimed that the toilet paper featured the name of Allah. Then Hamas-linked CAIR pushed the cause of Muslim rage over Amazon featuring doormats with Quranic verses, and successfully got them withdrawn from sale. Then more Muslim fury erupted over Quranic verses on toilet seat covers (Bible verses are also on toilet seat covers, and no one minds). Now enraged Muslims have started another petition, “calling for the recall of the Nike Air Max 270 because it features an Air Max logo that resembles the word ‘Allah’ in Arabic.” The petition says:

“It is outrageous and appalling of Nike to allow the name of God on a shoe. This is disrespectful and extremely offensive to Muslim’s and insulting to Islam. Islam teaches compassion, kindness and fairness towards all,” the petition reads. “We urge Nike to recall this blasphemous and offensive shoe and all products with the design logo resembling the word Allah from worldwide sales immediately.”

To this, Nike responded:

“Nike respects all religions and we take concerns of this nature seriously. The AIR MAX logo was designed to be a stylized representation of Nike’s AIR MAX trademark.  It is intended to reflect the AIR MAX brand only. Any other perceived meaning or representation is unintentional.”

Let’s hope that Nike does not bow to the Sharia as it has before, and as have so many others. This ridiculousness will have no end until non-Muslims in the West wake up and realize that they are free and that they are not under the Sharia, and too bad if Muslims are offended. Hindus, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Zoroastrians, etc etc. all get offended, too, without demanding special treatment. All are equal in free societies that allow for pluralism — and offence.

“’Just DON’T do it!’ Thousands of Muslims demand Nike withdraw ‘insulting’ Air Max trainers ‘that have Allah written on the sole,’” by Connor Boyd, Daily Mail, January 28, 2019:

Outraged Muslims are demanding Nike recall an ‘offensive’ line of trainers because the logo looks like Allah’s name in Arabic.

Saiqa Noreen launched a petition to pull the Air Max 270 shoe and has accused the sportswear giant of ‘blasphemy’.

The petition, which has gained more than 6,000 signatures in just hours, blasts Nike for allowing God’s name to be ‘trampled, kicked and become soiled with mud or even filth’.

The design features the words Air Max spelled out in a custom, joined-up font on the sole of the shoe, which was released last year.

In Muslim culture showing the sole of your shoe is seen as the height of disrespect as it implies you want to hurt someone with it.

The shoe is considered dirty because it touches the ground and is associated with the foot, the lowest party of the body.

‘It is outrageous and appalling of Nike to allow the name of God on a shoe. This is disrespectful and extremely offensive to Muslim’s and insulting to Islam,’ Ms Noreen said.

‘Islam teaches compassion, kindness and fairness towards all. We urge Nike to recall this blasphemous and offensive shoe and all products with the design logo resembling the word Allah from worldwide sales immediately.

‘We also request stricter scrutiny of products before they enter the market. I urge all Muslim’s and everyone who respects the freedom of religion to sign this petition.’

Nike became embroiled in a similar controversy in 1997 when it was forced to recall thousands of pairs of Air Bakin’ sneakers following outcry from Muslim customers.

Flame like letters with the word ‘Air’ written on the heel could be read as Allah in Arabic script. …

Pope Francis’s new Morocco logo implies submission to Islam

“Why Does Pope Francis’s New Morocco Logo Imply Submission To Islam?” Because he has submitted. Pope Francis has become a defender of Islam.

“If this Vatican logo tells us anything, it is that Pope Francis is comfortable with Islam’s ascendency….This crescent does not appear alongside the cross, as if a companion to it. Rather, the Islamic symbol encircles the Christian one. What passes for a cross is feeble, barely recognizable.”

The Grand Imam of Cairo’s al-Azhar, Ahmed al-Tayeb, has also extended his gratitude and thanked the Pope for his “defense of Islam against the accusation of violence and terrorism.” Christianity is still waiting for the Pope to defend it against widespread Islamic persecution.

“Why Does Pope Francis’s New Morocco Logo Imply Submission To Islam?,” by Maureen Mullarkey, The Federalist , January 22, 2019:

St. Francis of Assisi traveled to Egypt in 1219 with the Fifth Crusade, determined to proclaim the truth of the gospel to Sultan al-Malik al-Kamil. Celebratory anticipation of the 800th anniversary of that meeting between saint and sultan began two years ago with Pope Francis’ trip to Egypt. Initiated by the Franciscans, the extended jubilee culminates this March with a papal visit to Morocco.

Vatican media foregoes the traditional papal insignia in promotion of this trip. Apropos of our age of slogans and Instagram politicking, it has chosen instead a logo created specifically for the event. Vatican News explained the choice: “A cross and a crescent . . . are symbols of Christianity and Islam which highlight the interreligious relation between Christians and Muslims.”

Interreligious relation is an airy trope drawn from the optimism of Pope John Paul II. During a memorable 1986 inter-faith convention in Assisi, John Paul hailed “the seeds of truth found in all religions.” He sealed the words with a respectful kiss on a Koran. A balmy ménage of many-colored pieties and alternative practitioners, the event buoyed enthusiasm for religious relativism. Its pan-religious sentimentality survives in the current pope’s apparent embrace of Islam as morally equivalent to Judeo-Christian ethos and culture.

Since 1986, Islam’s character and purposes have become clearer. Evidence of the scale of its distance from Assisi’s cross-cultural smorgasbord of religious impulses has sharpened. If this Vatican logo tells us anything, it is that Pope Francis is comfortable with Islam’s ascendency. The “relation” made visual here is one of domination. Take a look.

This crescent does not appear alongside the cross, as if a companion to it. Rather, the Islamic symbol encircles the Christian one. What passes for a cross is feeble, barely recognizable….

Lara Kollab Is Not the First Rogue Muslim Medical Practitioner

And their misdeeds track closely with Islamic teachings. My latest in FrontPage:

Ari Lieberman on Wednesday here at FrontPage told the appalling story of Lara Kollab, a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine who was employed at the Cleveland Clinic until quite recently, when Canary Mission published a report on her fiendishly hateful anti-Semitic tweets, including one in which she declared that she would “purposely give all the yahood [Jews] the wrong meds.” Kollab, unfortunately, is not the first, and will certainly not be the last, Muslim doctor whose departures from the Hippocratic Oath track closely with Islamic teachings.

The Qur’an tells Muslims that the Jews are the strongest of all people in enmity toward them (5:82), accursed by Allah (9:30), and always scheming against the Muslims (2:79; 3:75-3:78, 3:181, etc.). These and other Qur’anic passages likely provide some insight into Kollab’s mindset. They also may explain the actions of the Muslim doctor in Belgium who refused to come to the aid of a 90-year-old Jewish woman who had suffered a rib fracture, saying: “I will not come! Send her to Gaza for a few hours, then she will not feel pain anymore.”

A Muslim Doctors Without Borders nurse, Hani Mohammed Almajdalawi, outdid both Kollab and her Belgian colleague and took her Jew-hatred even farther, actually firing upon Israeli Defense Force troops at the Gaza border.

The Qur’an also tells Muslims that they can seize infidel women (“captives of the right hand”) and use them as sex slaves (4:3, 4:24, 23:16, 33:50, 70:30). Those Qur’anic passages illuminate the likely mindset of the Muslim doctor, a migrant from Syria, who raped four patients while serving as an assistant doctor at a hospital in Bavaria.

Likewise Houston doctor Shafeeq Sheikh, who was convicted of raping one of his patients at Houston’s Ben Taub General Hospital, despite his insistence that she, though sedated and attached to machines, made advances upon him that he, the irresistible lug, couldn’t fend off. In Britain, the energetic Dr. Amirul Haque sexually assaulted five of his female patients over one ten-day period.

Also in Britain, another Muslim migrant physician, Imran Qureshi from Pakistan, demonstrated that the victims need not be non-Muslim women if a Muslim woman indicates that she may not be the niqab-wearing type: Qureshi, according to MailOnline, “said the 21-year-old woman was ‘sexually available’ because she had previous boyfriends.”

Then there are the jihadi doctors. A hadith has a Muslim asking Muhammad: “Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward).” Muhammad replied, “I do not find such a deed.” (Bukhari 4.52.44) There is no shortage of doctors who have decided to do this greatest deed of all. Khurram Syed Sher may have been one of them. He was a doctor of pathology in London, Ontario, who was accused of taking part in jihad massacre plotting, although he was acquitted by a judge who determined that his involvement in the plotting was “naïve.”

Dr. Mirza Tariq Ali certainly was not naïve. He was a National Health Service doctor in Britain until he threw it all away to become a Taliban commander. His career change was ill-starred, however: he was killed in a drone strike.

Making a similar career choice was Dr. Mujahidah Bint Usama, also from Britain, who joined the Islamic State in Syria and in 2014 happily posted on her Twitter page a photo of herself holding a severed head, with the caption: “Dream Job.. A Terrorist Doc.” Always known for her human touch, the good doctor added a smiley face and two heart emojis.

Dr. Mohamed Maleeh Masha left a prosperous life in Flint, Michigan behind to join the Islamic State as well. Dr. Tareq Badawi Kamleh left Australia for the same goal, and boasted that the Islamic State’s health care system was better than Australia’s. And Shajul Islam, also from the United Kingdom, was considered by MI6 to be a “committed jihadist.”

And on and on. Certainly there are many Muslim doctors who uphold their Hippocratic Oath and would never harm their patients or anyone else. At the same time, Lara Kollab’s case shows that there needs to be a national conversation about the Islamic beliefs that could interfere with the fulfillment of that Oath. But there will, of course, be no such national discussion; if it were even attempted, it would be drowned out with insistent charges of “Islamophobia.”

Christians, Stop Saying Jesus Is the Son of God. It Provokes Muslims.

Modern-day Christians’ anxiousness to avoid offending Muslims could be the death of Christianity. My latest in FrontPage:

Buried in the concluding paragraphs of a Christmas Eve Washington Times report about Muslims in Uganda forcing Christians to convert to Islam was the extraordinary revelation that in that country, Muslims now consider any public statement of the Christian Faith to be a calculated insult to Muslims, for which they can justifiably exact revenge. This is, or should be, sobering news for the comfortable Christians of the West who have made an idol out of “interfaith dialogue” and fastidiously avoid saying anything remotely critical about Islam, even as the Muslim persecution of Christians continues worldwide.

“In June,” the Times reported, “a group of Muslims attacked Christian preachers in eastern Uganda during a ‘crusade,’ where Christians publicly profess their faith and invite others to join. Muslims in the town accused the Christians of mocking Islam by publicly saying Jesus was the Son of God.”

In response, said Christian pastor Moses Saku, the Muslims became violent: “They became very angry and began throwing rocks at Christians, chanting ‘Allah akbar.’ Many Christians were injured during the incident.”

The Christians appealed to the Muslims to have respect for those of other faith; the Muslims responded with contempt. One Muslim, Abubakar Yusuf, declared: “We have now declared a jihad against them. We are not going to allow anybody to despise Islamic teachings at their church or crusade. We will seek revenge.”

How did the Christians “despise Islamic teachings”? By preaching aspects of Christianity, such as the divinity of Christ, that Islam denies. The Christians, knowing how delicate their situation was, would never have dreamed of actually saying something critical about Islam itself; but to the Muslims who heard them, just enunciating the tenets of their Christian faith was criticism enough. And they refused to stand for it.

A few years ago, when jihadis attacked AFDI’s Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest in Garland, Texas, some Christians castigated me for co-sponsoring and speaking at the event. They said that Pamela Geller and I, as co-organizers of the event, were being needlessly provocative, poking Muslims in the eye, goading them, etc.

These charitable and enlightened Christians said that Christians should instead be deferential to others’ religious sensibilities. At the time, I responded to these people by explaining that giving in to violent intimidation (our event was a response to the jihad murder of the Charlie Hebdo Muhammad cartoonists in Paris) would only encourage more violent intimidation, and that given the fact that Muslims frequently found even basic expressions of Christian faith to be “provocative,” they were effectively cutting the ground out from under themselves and their children, making it impossible for them to practice Christianity in the future.

These incidents in Uganda are proof that this was correct. In declaring jihad and stating that the Muslims were now on a quest for revenge, Abubakar Yusuf and the Muslims who agree with him are in effect saying that the public expression of the Christian Faith mocks Islam and despises Islamic teachings. Abubakar Yusuf’s announcement that the Muslims had “declared jihad” against the Christians and would “seek revenge” against them was tantamount to a declaration that the Christians must submit to the hegemony of the Muslims, not daring to practice their faith openly, but only in private, behind closed door, and at the sufferance of their Muslim overlords.

This is exactly the status that Islamic law prescribes for Christians in lands governed by Islamic law, and so it is clear that Abubakar Yusuf is no lone fanatic, but is enunciating what many Muslims in Uganda believe to be only right and proper.

The lesson is clear, and not just for Uganda. If the advice of the cosseted, suburban Western Christians who were excoriating me for the Garland event is to be heeded, Christians should make no public expression of their faith at all, and convert to Islam, so as to avoid mocking, provoking, and offending Muslims, and poking them in the eye.

And what it comes to it, that is most likely the exact thing that those Christians will do.

The Washington Post writer Jamal Khashoggi was Publishing Radical Islamic Propaganda. When will WaPo apologize?

In 2018 the media has morphed, overtime, from publishing stories that are just untrue to publishing stories that are pure propaganda. It is not because the U.S. government is controlling the media. It is because the media actively supports one world view and is willing to abandon truth in order to influence politics on a global scale.

American singer, songwriter and lead vocalist for the Doors Jim Morrison said, “Whoever controls the media, controls the mind.”

There is a struggle in the Middle East. It is a tribal struggle that has been going on for nearly 1400 years. It is a struggle between Sunni (followers of the sunna, or “way” of Mohammed) and Shia (shi’atu Ali, “partisans of Ali). This struggle has manifested itself countries like Iraq and Syria. It is also a struggle of Islam against non-Islamic nations and peoples. It is a story that few dare to tell for fear of being labeled Islamophobic or worse a racist.

Those who work to tell the truth about what is really happening in Islam have at best self censored and at the worst jointed with the terrorists.

The Washington Post’s op-ed writer Jamal Khashoggi is but one example. When he was killed by agents of Saudi Arabia. Khashoggi was promoted by the media as a martyr. A man killed for his convictions. But what were his convictions?

Who was Khashoggi?

Jamal Khashoggi was a Sunni. Khashoggi was a follower of an Islamic ultra-fundamentalist doctrine and religious movement founded by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab called Wahhabism. According to the World Shia Forum:

Khashoggi was a leading critic of Saudi Monarchy, a true rebel who wanted nothing else but democracy for Saudi people, he was revolutionary and a defender of Human rights. well, this is what Tom Friedman from NYT or David Ignatius from WaPo would like us to believe, but let us see the truth, Khashoggi was no different than MBS, he was born, raised and educated in the same KSA as Muhammad bin Salman, he served many kings and crown princes before Muhammad bin Salman started consolidating power after his father became the king in early 2015, the Yemen war or as it should be called Yemen Genocide was launched months later by King Salman on the orders of de facto King MBS.

Khashoggi was no different than MBS when it came to Saudi Shias, Yemen, Syria, Bahrain or Iraq. He participated in Afghan war against Soviets, along with other Salafist Saudi Jihadists.

Jamal Khashoggi was as clearly a traditional Wahhabi who hated jews and shia like all good Wahhabis, he justified and celebrated when a Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al Nimr, a Human rights activist from eastern province of Qatif was beheaded by the Saudi regime in January 2015.

Khashoggi the propagandist.

We now learn that Jamal Khashoggi published fake op-eds. Buried in a Washington Post article about Khashoggi’s final months, we find this passage:

Maggie Mitchell Salem. Screen shot CSPAN.

Perhaps most problematic for Khashoggi were his connections to an organization funded by Saudi Arabia’s regional nemesis, Qatar. Text messages between Khashoggi and an executive at Qatar Foundation International show that the executive, Maggie Mitchell Salem, at times shaped the columns he submitted to The Washington Post, proposing topics, drafting material and prodding him to take a harder line against the Saudi government. Khashoggi also appears to have relied on a researcher and translator affiliated with the organization. . . .

Editors at The Post’s opinion section, which is separate from the newsroom, said they were unaware of these arrangements. . . [Emphasis added]

Here is Qatar Foundation International’s Executive Director Maggie Mitchell Salem promoting the #ISpeakArabic Campaign.

When the media portrays a op-ed writer like Jamal Khashoggi as: a rebel they mean terrorist, and a defender of human rights they mean defender of Muslim rights. When the New York Times and Washington Post portray Khashoggi as a revolutionary they mean one who is furthering the most radical form of Islam. The form of Islam that created al Qaeda and ISIS.

Maggie Mitchell Salem and Jamal Khashoggi have the same vision – to make Islam dominate in the world. Sadly, many Western leaders have fallen for this propaganda and have their minds controlled by the media.

Why U.S. forces must step in to save Iraqi Christians from extinction

When ISIS fighters burst into Father Afran Sony’s monastery in northern Iraq in June 2014 wielding machine guns and knives, he and his brothers rushed to protect their most precious possessions.

They weren’t gold, relics or even their own lives, but some of the oldest surviving manuscripts in the Christian world.

For nearly two months, the terrorists held the handful of monks prisoner and openly discussed whether or not to kill them because they refused to renounce their faith. But Father Afran was more focused on saving the ancient Christian texts than himself.

Modal Trigger
Mike Guillen/NY Post

At one point, he and a few brothers managed to escape to a nearby village under the cover of darkness, carrying away the most precious of the ancient scrolls under their cloaks. But ISIS caught them at a checkpoint and took them back to the monastery. That’s when they came up with a daring plan.

“We built a fake wall in a small windowless closet right under their noses and sealed the books in barrels inside,” he said. “Some of them date from the 4th century. In all, we saved 750 ancient books and scrolls.”

ISIS released the monks on July 20, 2014, and stayed another two years in the monastery without ever finding the manuscripts. But every other Christian relic they found, every cross and every grave, they smashed or defaced, including the tomb of Saints Behnam and Sarah, martyrs who lived more than 1,600 years ago.

Most Americans have had enough of our 15-year effort to bring peace, stability and, yes, some modicum of representative government to Iraq. President Trump repeatedly blasted President George W. Bush for going to war in 2003, calling it “the single worst decision ever made.”

And yet, the United States does have lasting interests in Iraq beyond eradicating weapons of mass destruction. Prime among them is one that until now we have neglected: ensuring the survival of Iraq’s Christian minority and, more generally, the Christians of the East.

Why should we care? America is fundamentally a Judeo-Christian nation. More than 70 percent of Americans self-identify as Christians, and if that statistic has any meaning, then we must take seriously the passage of St. Paul in I Corinthians 12:26, when he describes the body of Christ. “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.”

There can be no doubt: The Body of Christ in northern Iraq is suffering. It has been suffering for the past 15 years in ways never before imaginable. And until recently, Americans and the US government have done little to help.

Modal Trigger
A US-led coalition drove out ISIS — but not before the terror group defaced the monastery in Mosul with graffiti.AFP/Getty Images

These are our people. This is our duty.

Through 1,400 years of Muslim domination, these communities have remained faithful, their monasteries and ancient churches largely intact. Until ISIS. Today, 150,000 Christians at most remain in Iraq, a scant 10 percent of the community that once thrived before 2003. And every day brings them closer to extinction.

Merved is a 32-year old Christian woman from Bartella, east of Mosul, who was driven out of her home by the ISIS invasion in 2014. She lost four family members to ISIS barbarity and today lives with her four young children in a refugee camp sponsored by the Assyrian Aid Society. Asked if she was ready to return home, she shook her head violently. “I am afraid!”

While ISIS lost its occupying power after a brutal, year-long battle with Iraqi, Kurdish and US-led coalition forces in 2017, members of the terrorist group have gone underground and are forming new cells just outside of Mosul, many of them led by women. “In recent months, we have arrested 40 women just in our sector,” said the national police chief for East Mosul, Gen. Aref al-Zebari. “They told our interrogators that they were protected and aided by the Turkish government,” he added.

In October this year, I returned from a 10-day fact-finding mission to Mosul and the surrounding Christian villages of the Nineveh Plain, which was evangelized by St. Thomas in the 1st century AD. Many of the churches here still conduct Mass in Aramaic, the language of Jesus. But ISIS’s presence lingered throughout.

“Look at this grave,” local councilman Luis Markos Ayoub told me, as we walked through the cemetery of Saint Georges church in Karamlesh, a Christian village just east of Mosul.

“It is fresh — not because the person just died, but because the family came back here to rebury their loved one. ISIS had dug up the dead body and decapitated it, because it was Christian.”

Modal Trigger
ISIS damaged and destroyed iconography.

Recently the Archbishop of Canterbury called the “daily threats of murder” Christians face today “the worst situation since the Mongol invasions of the 13th century.”

“Many have left,” wrote the Most Reverend Justin Welby in the UK’s Sunday Telegraph. “Hundreds of thousands have been forced from their homes. Many have been killed, enslaved and persecuted or forcibly converted. Even those who remain ask the question, ‘Why stay?’ Christian communities that were the foundation of the universal Church now face the threat of imminent extinction.”

You don’t have to be a Christian to believe it’s in our national interest to ensure the survival of Iraqi Christians. Congress has determined that the three-year ISIS effort to eradicate the Christian and Yazidi populations under their control amounted to “genocide.”

Max Primorac, the top USAID official in Iraq, said genocide is a very specific crime that calls for a specific response. “We’ve made 27 grants in three months, probably the fastest ever,” Primorac said. “We didn’t just get the memo, we are reading it.”

The “memo” came from Vice President Mike Pence. Just over one year ago, Pence pledged that the Trump administration would change the way the US distributed aid, to ensure it directly reached Christian and Yazidi communities.

The first concrete step was to withdraw $55 million pledged to the United Nations, which has a track record of playing favorites with Muslims and wasting money on insider contractors. USAID is starting to spend that money directly on local projects administered by local organizations.

“The money is supporting reconstruction efforts, local schools and services such as trash collection,” Primorac said. “This is a White House priority.”

Other countries are also making an effort. With funds from a French aid organization, 28-year old architect Guillaume de Beaurepaire is working to rebuild the tomb of Benham and Sarah alongside Father Afran, who has since returned to his monastery.

Modal Trigger
Christian Mass is once again being held at the monastery of Saints Behnam and Sarah in Iraq.Quentin Bruno

“ISIS needed three attempts to blow up the tomb,” de Beaurepaire told me. “Most of the mausoleum was on the ground when we first got here. But ISIS missed things. The main underground niche was intact, and we found many of the carved tablets in the rubble and re-cemented them into the walls.”

In addition to aid, these communities need top-level political and diplomatic support from Washington. And they are starting to get it.

Just as I was leaving Iraq, I got a note from Primorac that a three-month negotiation, led by US ambassador to Iraq Douglas Silliman, had succeeded in convincing the Kurdish Regional Government to lift roadblocks that have isolated Christian towns on the Nineveh Plain and stifled economic development for years.

‘We need local government, local police, in Christian cantons.’

This is a great first step and shows on a practical level what aiding Iraqi Christians means: concrete actions, not speeches and empty promises.

The next steps are even more important: ensuring that Christians who return to Mosul and the Nineveh Plain have political and security guarantees so they can never again be victimized by Muslims or Kurds.

“We need to be able to govern ourselves,” said Yohanna Yosif Toma, legal advisor to the Hammurabi Human Rights Organization, an Iraqi group that provides both aid and political support to embattled Christians.

“We don’t need another province that is majority Muslims. We need local government, local police, in Christian cantons.”

The US has supported the notion of self-government for Iraq’s Christian community for years but has never put the full weight of our government behind it.

Now is the time, before these endangered communities disappear forever.

Pro-Sharia, hijabbed Muslim Rep.-elect Ilhan Omar mocks Mike Pence’s Christian faith

Just imagine the establishment media uproar that would ensue if Pence had mocked Omar’s faith. But in this case, Leftist “journalists” will just join in with Omar and mock Pence themselves.
“Incoming Muslim Congresswomen Mock Pence’s Christian Faith,” by Patrick Goodenough, CNS News, December 13, 2018:

One of the first two Muslim women elected to the U.S. Congress took a snide dig on Twitter at Vice President Pence for sitting with eyes closed during a heated Oval Office meeting, posting a photo with the caption, “Jesus take the wheel!” – and the other incoming Muslim congresswoman applauded the insult.

Ihlan Omar’s (D-Minn.) tweet ended with the hashtag #BorderWall, a reference to the contentious issue discussed during President Trump’s meeting Tuesday with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)

The second Muslim woman elected to the House, Palestinian-American Congresswoman-elect Rashida Tlaib, “liked” Omar’s Pence tweet….

France: Strasbourg Christmas market mass murderer is a Muslim named Cherif Chekatt

Watch in the coming days for the handwringing establishment media stories about how the local mosque in Strasbourg fears a “backlash,” and that Muslims are the real victims of jihad terror attacks.

Cherif Chekatt

“The assassin of Strasbourg is Cherif Chekatt, 29 years old and registered by the Police,” translated from “El asesino de Estrasburgo es Cherif Chekatt, de 29 años y registrado por la Policía,” okdiario, December 11, 2018:

The attacker is a 29-year-old man who was booked by the police for common crimes. Apparently, the gendarmes went to his house last Tuesday morning to arrest him, but he was not there. His name is Cherif Chekatt. Born on February 4, 1989, the son of Abdelkrim and Rouag Raoudja.

The gendarmes searched his house in the morning, having found four grenades there.

According to police sources, there has been a new shooting in the area where law enforcement officials are looking for the perpetrator of the shooting in the Christmas market in Strasbourg, which has caused two deaths and eleven wounded.
