Russia starts advanced construction on new Iranian nuclear plant

This is a strategic alliance that Russia is likely to come to regret. Historically, Islamic states don’t willingly enter into partnerships with Infidels that redound to the benefit of those Infidels. There are abundant examples this in my forthcoming book, The History of Jihad From Muhammad to ISIS, which you can preorder here now.

“Russia Starts Advanced Construction on New Iranian Nuke Plant,” by Adam Kredo, Washington Free Beacon, May 4, 2018:

Russia has begun advanced construction on a new Iranian nuclear plant that could provide Tehran with a second, plutonium-based pathway to a nuclear weapon, according to regional reports that have rattled U.S. officials in the wake of a major disclosure showing Iran lied about its past efforts to construct nuclear warheads.

Russia’s state-controlled nuclear agency Rosatom announced that it has begun phase-two construction on Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant in Southern Iran, just one of several new nuclear sites that are being constructed under a multibillion-dollar agreement between the two countries.

Construction on the nuclear site kicked off just days after the Israeli government disclosed a cache of some 100,000 secret Iranian documents showing the regime lied about its past efforts to construct at least five nuclear warheads. This nuclear work was later archived and codified by Tehran so that it could continue such work secretly despite the enforcement of the landmark nuclear deal.

U.S. officials and regional experts said the new nuclear plant construction should be viewed with caution in the wake of Israel’s disclosure and place renewed focus by the international community on Iran’s clandestine efforts to use civilian nuclear sites to advance its weapons work.

On Thursday, Russia’s Rosatom announced “soil stabilization works under the reactor building of power unit No 2 commenced at Bushehr-2 NPP construction site,” according to reports in Iran’s state-controlled media outlets.

The nuclear work is being carried out under a 2014 agreement between Iran and Russia that paved the way for the construction of at least eight new nuclear sites, including the plant at Bushehr….

ISIS ‘is driving mass migration from Africa to send jihadists into Europe’

In February, the Islamic State warned us that they would send half a million Muslim migrants into Europe — an army against the West. The hijrah. In May 2015, I further reported that the Islamic State was smuggling large numbers of Muslim “migrants” into Europe and making a fortune doing it. And in July 2015, I warned that hundreds of ISIS members planned on infiltrating Europe, together with masses of refugees from Libya, Syria, and Iraq. They did, and horror ensued: the savage attacks in Paris, Nice, Brussels, Berlin, mass rapes across the continent, while outdoor markets, music festivals, fairs, etc. are choice targets for jihad murder. Europe is forever changed, and not for the good.

Leftist elite authoritarians, responsible for the ongoing catastrophe, scoffed at our warnings. Instead, they defamed and libeled my colleagues and me, while fictionalizing what was/is essentially the invasion of Europe.

Clear-thinking Americans saw what was happening in Europe, saw that the Democrats wanted that same horror for us, and took action — President Trump. Thank heavens. Pay heed, 2020 is just around the corner, and the Democrats have declared war. What better way to achieve their goals than by importing an army?

ISIS ‘is driving migration from Africa to send jihadists into Europe’: Senior UN figure warns – ‘If destabilising Syria was bad, wait until a region with 500 million people is destabilised’

  • Fleeing ISIS leaders are ‘joining forces with fanatics in Africa’s Sahel region’
  • Head of UN World Food Programme said extremists could drive a migration wave
  • David Beasley warned jihadists could then ‘infiltrate’ Europe ‘and cause chaos’
  • Sahel spans 3,360 miles across Africa from the Atlantic Ocean to the Red Sea

By Julian Robinson for MailOnline, 26 April 2018:

ISIS leaders fleeing the Middle East are planning to drive migration from Africa in a fresh bid to send jihadists into Europe, a senior UN figure has warned.

The militants are joining forces with fanatics in Africa’s Sahel region, according to David Beasley, head of the UN World Food Programme and a former Republican governor of South Carolina.

He warned terror factions could then exploit the area’s food crisis to push millions from the region in a migration wave that could dwarf the exodus from war-torn Syria in 2015.

‘My comment to the Europeans is that if you think you had a problem resulting from a nation of 20 million people like Syria because of destabilisation and conflict resulting in migration, wait until the greater Sahel region of 500 million people is further destabilised,’ Mr Beasley said.

‘And this is where the European community and international community has got to wake up,’ he told the Guardian’s Daniel Boffey.

Mr Beasley warned that the likes of Boko Haram and al-Qaeda are partnering with ISIS commanders who have fled from Syria in recent years and that extremists will ‘continue to infiltrate and destabilise in the hope of creating migration into Europe where they can infiltrate and cause chaos.’

The Sahel spans 3,360 miles from the Atlantic in the west to the Red Sea in the east in a belt stretching up to 600 miles wide.

Countries in in the region include parts of Senegal, southern Mauritania, central Mali, northern Burkina Faso, the extreme south of Algeria, Niger, and the extreme north of Nigeria.

In the past, David Beasley (pictured) has argued that a comprehensive plan for economic development could be the key to long-term stability and increased food security in the Sahel region

It also includes central Chad, central and southern Sudan, the extreme north of South Sudan, Eritrea, Cameroon, Central African Republic and the extreme north of Ethiopia.

In the past, Mr Beasley has argued that a comprehensive plan for economic development could be the key to long-term stability and increased food security in the Sahel region.

He has said that the World Food Programme sees food as ‘a weapon of peace, as a weapon of reconciliation, as a weapon for sustainable development. But we must get our act together. We must think holistically and not in our own silos.’

Mr Beasley, who showed support for Donald Trump during his Presidential campaign, has been attending a summit on Syria in Brussels.

During the meeting, International donors pledged $4.4 billion in aid for 2018 for civilians caught up in the Syrian civil war – well short of what the UN says is needed for humanitarian work in Syria and neighbouring countries.

ISIS militants are joining forces with fanatics in Africa’s Sahel region, according to David Beasley, head of the UN World Food Programme and a former Republican governor of South Carolina

The sum committed at a two-day conference in Brussels was less than half of the $9 billion the United Nations says is needed this year to help those in need inside Syria and living as refugees in neighbouring countries.

Mr Beasley warned that without proper funding he would be forced to start cutting rations ‘to just barely keep people alive’.

Some 6.1 million people are now internally displaced in Syria, more than five million have fled the country and 13 million including six million children are in need of aid, according to the UN.

More than 700,000 people have been displaced since the start of this year alone as Assad has stepped up his offensive against rebel forces, intensifying the humanitarian crisis.

Stanford labels the forcible suppression of dissenting views ‘free expression’

The academic environment on our nation’s campuses has deteriorated so severely, and our colleges and universities have been so completely transformed into centers of Leftist indoctrination, that many students not only oppose the freedom of speech, but don’t even know what it is. Sam Wolfe enthusiastically writes: “Something is afoot once again on the campus of Stanford University. We see it in the arrival of Robert Spencer, and in the throng of students who marched out of his lecture….Debate, dear reader, is afoot once again.”

No, Sam, that’s not what debate is. A debate is when two (and sometimes more) people present their positions on an issue, and then offer criticisms of the others’ view and defenses of their own. I wasn’t given any opportunity to engage in debate at Stanford. (I would, however, return there at my own expense should anyone there be actually willing to debate me, but given the obvious fact that only one opinion is allowed at Stanford, I don’t expect anyone there to take me up on this offer.) Instead, I was the subject of a mendacious smear campaign by the student papers the Stanford Daily and Stanford Review, aided and abetted by faculty members who made defamatory false claims about my positions and work. Then at the actual event, Stanford administrators Nanci Howe and Snehal Naik made sure that the hall was packed with students who had no intention of attending the lecture, but were there only to sabotage it by denying seats to people who actually wanted to attend. They even kept out some members of the College Republicans, the group that was sponsoring the event.

Then, after the walkout, they refused to allow in people who actually wanted to attend, refusing repeated requests to do so. They also refused to allow the Young America’s Foundation to stream the event, clearly because they knew what was in the offing and did not want video going out live that would show just how much Stanford has deteriorated and how opposed it is to free discourse. They were so petty and authoritarian that they wouldn’t even allow the members of the College Republicans who had been kept out of the event to come in after it ended for a group photo.

That, young Mr. Wolfe, is not a debate. That is the fascist suppression of dissent. It is disquieting that this bright young man doesn’t seem to know the difference between the two. Wolfe writes: “Stanford feels like an environment more conducive to freedom of expression than it has at any point since I started here two years ago.” In that case, Stanford must have been a true nightmare of Leftist authoritarianism two years ago, but it is scarcely better now. Stanford University, like most colleges and universities in America today, has a massive problem with the fascist suppression of the freedom of speech by hard-Left elements that control the administration and faculty. It’s a scandal of immense proportions, and at Stanford, as elsewhere, they don’t even have a clue that it’s happening.

“Editor’s Note: Debate Returns in Force,” by Sam Wolfe, Stanford Review, April 5, 2018:

Something is afoot once again on the campus of Stanford University.

We see it in the arrival of Robert Spencer, and in the throng of students who marched out of his lecture.

We hear it in the protests that greeted Charles Murray’s recent arrival on campus.

And we read about it, not only in the Daily and Review, but now in the Sphere as well.

Debate, dear reader, is afoot once again. Students on both the right and the left, unhappy with the mushy, anodyne consensus that otherwise characterizes the Stanford body politic, are reasserting their right to kick up a fuss. More and more, students’ response to contentious issues is not to go with the safe option (“Yeah, no, this is a really serious issue…”) but to get to the nub of things and have a debate. Should we allow a provocative Islam critic on campus? Let’s argueit out. Should Stanford invest in fossil fuels? Debate. Tax reform? Debate again.

And it’s not only students making the push. The administration, along with many of Stanford’s flagship intellectual centers (Hoover, FSI, etc.), has thrown its weight behind Cardinal Conversations, an initiative co-sponsored by the Review that brings pairs of provocative speakers to campus for a dialogue. The first two events featured Peter Thiel, Reid Hoffman, Francis Fukuyama, and Charles Murray, an assortment of high-profile speakers that reflects the sincerity with which the university is supporting the program.

The Stanford administration has also made a welcome effort to explain and defend its decisions. The previous administration was criticized for making controversial decisions by executive ukase — for example, suspending the Marching Band — and failing entirely to justify them. President Marc Tessier-Lavigne and Provost Persis Drell, by contrast, have started Notes from the Quad, a blog where they explain their thoughts on campus culture and provide thoughtful defenses of university policy.

Are things, then, looking up? I would say yes. Stanford feels like an environment more conducive to freedom of expression than it has at any point since I started here two years ago….

VIDEO: Police refuse to investigate death threats against Islam critic because she is ‘inciting hatred’

Yet more disquieting evidence that the first priority of police in Britain is now enforcing Sharia blasphemy laws.

Jonaya Fenessa English explains in this video that she never speaks about Muslims, only about Islam, and never calls for violence. But that is not enough: that is also true of Pamela Geller and me, and we were banned from Britain. Any criticism of Islam, no matter how mild, no matter how accurate, is now out of bounds in Britain.

At one point in this video, Jonaya shows an email where she asked police: “You have literally just told me that I might get in trouble for criticising Islam but you’re not going to investigate a terrorist because of freedom of speech…that is actually stunning.”

No one in particular is paying any attention, but the darkness of totalitarianism is descending upon Britain with astonishing rapidity.

‘Historians’ ‘discover’ that Queen Elizabeth is related to Muhammad?

This story is so ridiculous that even Britain’s most ridiculous paper, the Daily Mail, ought to be ashamed to publish it. No one could possibly know with the slightest degree of certainty that he or she is descended from Muhammad, which the dhimmi Daily Mail dutifully always refers to as “the Prophet Muhammad,” as if we’re all Muslims now.

The main reason why this is so is that it is highly doubtful that Muhammad, as least as he is portrayed in the Hadith and Sira, ever existed at all — as I explain at length in my book Did Muhammad Exist?. Muhammad is supposed to have died in 632, but the earliest biography of him dates from around 750 or 760, and most of the hadith literature from the 800s.

That’s a century-and-a-half gap between the man and the first details of his life. It would be as if the first biography of Abraham Lincoln had just been published a few decades ago, and there were no older written records about him. No one would be able to be sure what was fact and what was legend, and that is exactly the case with Muhammad. His genealogy is as legendary as he is. In light of that, to say that Queen Elizabeth is descended from Muhammad is like saying she is descended from Robin Hood, or Macbeth.

Also, given the status that Muhammad holds in Islam, it became an honor to be descended from him, and numerous people fabricated genealogical records to show that they were of Muhammad’s family. Pakistan, Iran and other Muslim countries are full of sayyids, i.e., people claiming to be descended from Muhammad, but Muhammad is supposed to have been an Arab from Mecca. His descendants may have traveled into Asia and intermarried with Persians and Indians, but it is far more likely that all these sayyids are trying to get ahead in their societies, and that is the sole reason and justification for their claim.

What this story is really all about is the ongoing attempt to make Britons accept Islamization. See, Queen Elizabeth is a relative of Muhammad, old boy, so why are you so “Islamophobic” and opposed to jihad terror, Sharia courts that oppress women, Muslim rape gangs, and the rest of the cultural enrichment that Islam has brought to Britain? Relax: jihad is as British as bubble and squeak!

“Is the Queen related to Prophet Muhammad? Historians believe Elizabeth II is a descendant of the founder of Islam after tracing her family tree back 43 generations,” by Katie French, Mailonline, April 6, 2018 (thanks to Tom):

Historians believe the Queen is a descendant to the founder of Islam – after tracing her family tree back 43 generations.

The claim makes the British monarch a distant ancestor of the Prophet Muhammad.

The findings were first published in 1986 by Burke’s Peerage, a British authority on royal pedigrees.

But the claim has recently resurfaced after a Moroccan newspaper said it had traced the queen’s lineage back to the Prophet.

According to their findings, Elizabeth II’s bloodline runs through the Earl of Cambridge in the 14th century, across medieval Muslim Spain, to Fatima, the Prophet’s daughter.

Although disputed by some historians, genealogical records of early-medieval Spain also support the claim and it has also been verified by Ali Gomaa, the former grand mufti of Egypt….

The study from Burke’s Peerage first officially suggested the Queen’s connection to the Prophet Muhammad.

They claimed the Queen descends from a Muslim princess called Zaida, who fled her home town of Seville in the 11th century before converting to Christianity.

Zaida was the fourth wife of King Al-Mu’tamid ibn Abbad of Seville. She bore him a son Sancho, whose descendant later married the Earl of Cambridge in the 11th century.

But British magazine the Spectator points out Zaida’s origins are ‘debatable’. Some historians believe she was the daughter of a wine-drinking caliph descended from the Prophet. Others say she married into his family….

Abdelhamid Al-Auouni welcomed the news in his piece in Moroccan newspaper Al-Ousboue, writing: ‘It builds a bridge between our two religions and kingdoms.’…

One person on internet forum Reddit rubbished the claims however, writing: ‘This is just propaganda used by the British monarchy to appease the growing number of Muslim subjects.’…

VIDEOS: Muslim Supremacists upset about ‘Islamic States of America’ & ‘Islamic State of France’ travel promos

The Muslim supremacist Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) called for Federal Election Commission (FEC) and IRS investigations of Islamic States of America travel promotion that appeared on Facebook and Google to target voters in swing states including Nevada and North Carolina prior to the 2016 election. The ads were run by Secure America Now a 501(c)3 organization. Secure America Now boasts a grass roots army of over 4.3 million strong.

The Secure America Now website states:

We are the largest national security digital platform in the nation, dedicated to bringing critical security issues to the forefront of the American debate.

When President Obama and the Mayor of New York City supported the construction of a mosque at Ground Zero, a small group of political professionals with varying ideological leanings volunteered their expertise to fight this bad idea. After nationalizing the issue and defeating the plan–Secure America Now was created to protect these values from future attacks.

Born in grassroots and matured on the internet, we are now a nationwide army of Democrats, Republicans, Independents, conservatives and liberals who share a common concern about our security and our liberty. We know the stakes and we won’t back down.

Secure America Now “projects” page opposes the Iran Nuclear Deal, is concerned about what happened in Benghazi and supports local law enforcement.

CAIR said it has witnessed an unprecedented spike in bigotry targeting American Muslims and members of other minority groups since the election of Donald Trump as president.

In a March 2017 Christianity Today article titled “Does the United States Belong on Persecution Lists?” Sarah Eekhoff Zylstra wrote:

Many American evangelicals welcomed President Donald Trump’s draft executive order to strengthen religious exemptions in federal laws and programs, even though it would have fallen short of protecting Christian business owners like bakers, florists, and photographers.

Stoking their increasing concerns: high-profile lawsuitsfiledagainst those who refuse to provide their services for same-sex weddings; the Obamacare requirement of institutions to provide contraception coverage; and proposed legislation in California that all schools must obey anti-discrimination regulations or lose funding.

International Christian Concern even included the United States in its religious freedom Hall of Shame list for the first time in 2016, citing “constant attacks in the media” and believers being “marginalized through the law.”

With the ISIS caliphate gone it appears that groups like CAIR are playing the victim card with no evidence of oppression. These two political satire videos, however, are ringing true especially the Islamic State of France promo.

Hamas calls for 100,000 Muslims from Gaza to demonstrate along Israeli border

“Hamas to Swarm Israel’s Border, Sparking Fear of New ‘Passover War,’” by Adam Kredo, Washington Free Beacon, March 29, 2018:

The Palestinian terrorist group Hamas is planning a mass demonstration along Israel’s border on Friday, prompting fears of a new war with the Jewish state ahead of the Passover holiday, according to regional experts and U.S. officials who say they are closely monitoring the situation.

On the heels of a recent military exercise that observers described as “unprecedented,” Hamas leaders have called for some 100,000 Gaza Strip resident [sic] to engage in six weeks of mass demonstrations along the Israeli border as Jewish families gear up for the Passover holiday, which begins Friday evening.

Regional experts closely tracking the situation say the demonstrations are meant as cover for a mass military campaign to swarm Israel’s border and stoke violence against the Jewish state.

The situation is being closely monitored by Trump administration officials, who outlined concerns that Hamas could use civilian protesters as human shields as cover for attacks on Israeli forces.

Tension are high ahead of the mass demonstration, dubbed the Great Return March, with the United Nations already imploring Israel to not attack children or other civilians.

Officials with the U.N. Relief Works Agency, or UNRWA, a body routinely cited for its anti-Israel bias, have already endorsed the demonstrations, stoking further concerns the U.N. is setting the stage to blame Israel for any violence that could erupt. UNRWA has offered medical facilities to any Palestinian who may be injured during the weeks of protest.

State Department officials told the Washington Free Beacon that they are aware of the upcoming protests and will be tracking the situation closely.

“We are aware of calls by Hamas asking people to march along the Israeli border over the coming weeks,” one U.S. official told the Free Beacon.” We will monitor the situation and developments closely.”

The State Department emphasized that it still considers Hamas a terror group and is aware of its routine use of human shields during terror operations.

“Our position on Hamas has not changed,” the official said. “It is a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization. Any use of human shields is absolutely unacceptable.”

Omri Ceren, a managing director at The Israel Project, a D.C.-based organization that works on Middle East issues, warned that Hamas is using civilian protests as cover for a massive military operation that could launch another regional war.

Evidence suggests Hamas has already prepared to flood Israel with armed assets during the demonstration and has even positioned equipment such as tractors to shift the ground and erect fortifications.

“Hamas is trying to trigger a Passover War and the U.N. seems eager to help them,” Ceren said. “Hamas is preparing thousands of civilians to rush Israel’s border, tear down the defensive fence, and provide cover as Hamas fighters flood into Israel.”

While Israeli military officials have planned to use as little force as possible to control any violent eruption, things could get out of hand quickly, Ceren said.

“The Israelis will do everything possible to prevent escalation and avoid casualties, but this is the kind of thing that could go really bad really quickly,” he explained.

“Meanwhile the U.N. is supporting Hamas and setting up Israel to get blamed for anything that happens to Hamas’s human shields,” Ceren said. “American lawmakers were already inclined to view the U.N. as biased and unhelpful when it comes to Israel and this can cement that view.”…

Observers have been warning that Hamas is not seeking a peaceful protest, but a military campaign in the guise of civilian demonstration….

EDITORS NOTE: This column originally appeared on Jihad Watch. Barry Shaw reports:

Thousands of Israelis soldiers will not be celebrating the Passover Seder with their families today as Hamas stokes up a massive provocation on Israel’s border with the Gaza Strip. Hamas are bringing tens of thousands of troublemakers in what they are calling the “March of Return.”

They have set up logistic points of assembly before ordering the people to attack the border fence and create an incursion into Israel. Soldiers and tanks are watching developments and have orders to protect the Israeli border at all cost. Soldiers have also been brought south to protect the kibbutzim and villages close to the border with Gaza in case of a massive incursion. Some injuries have already occurred.

Israel will not tolerate any action that will endanger our sovereignty of the safety of our soldiers and civilians. Israel has warned Hamas that their facilities will be targeted if their provocative demonstration gets out of hand.

Twitter Hosts Women’s March Leader Embroiled in Anti-Semitism Controversy

Twitter executives hosted Women’s March leader Tamika Mallory at their headquarters, despite the fact the woman’s publicly announced support for Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.

This is the same Twitter that touts its blockage of offensive content — offensive content that typically turns out to be conservative in nature.

But the social media giant doesn’t have a problem with Mallory and her ties to the very racist, very openly anti-Semite Farrakhan?

Woman’s March leader Tamika Mallory with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.

The Daily Caller News Foundation has more:

Twitter hosted Women’s March leader Tamika Mallory at its headquarters, despite controversy surrounding Mallory’s support for Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, a notorious racist and anti-Semite.

Mallory posted a pair of pictures from Twitter headquarters on social media Thursday afternoon.

One picture showed Mallory standing in front of a Black Lives Matter decorated wall at the company’s headquarters. The other showed Mallory and rapper Mysonne posing for a picture with what appeared to be several dozen Twitter employees.

“Found the #BlackLivesMatter Wall at the @Twitter headquarters” (Screenshot/Twitter)

Mallory attended a Nation of Islam convention in February, when Farrakhan railed against Jews and white people. Farrakhan took time out of his speech to praise Mallory, and she was seen on camera applauding at one point during his speech. The Women’s March leader also praised Farrakhan on social media as the “greatest of all time.”

After a backlash from the Anti-Defamation League and other Jewish organizations, Mallory defended Farrakhan by implying that religious leaders are supposed to consider Jews their enemies. “If your leader does not have the same enemies as Jesus, they may not be THE leader!” she wrote on Twitter.

Farrakhan is a notorious anti-Semite who has praised Hitler, said white people “deserve to die” and repeatedly claimed Jews are “satanic.” The Nation of Islam’s doctrine teaches that white people are inherently inferior and were created in an experiment by a black scientist.

Mallory re-affirmed her support for Farrakhan in an op-ed for NewsOne, a black news website. In the op-ed, Mallory said her relationship with the Nation of Islam goes back 30 years. (RELATED: Planned Parenthood Chapter Aborts Relationship With Women’s March Co-Chair)

Twitter did not immediately return a request for comment regarding Mallory’s visit to company headquarters.

Mallory isn’t the only Women’s March leader with ties to Farrakhan. The group’s co-president, Carmen Perez, defended him in a January interview with Refinery29.

“In regards to Minister Farrakhan, I think that is a distraction,” Perez said at the time. “People need to understand the significant contributions that these individuals have made to Black and Brown people.”

Soros-funded New America Foundation claims ‘anti-Muslim activity’ fueled by ‘bigoted’ rhetoric, not by Islamic terror

The New America Foundation has received over a million dollars from George Soros’ Open Society Foundations. This article highlighting its “report” on “anti-Muslim activities” is a particularly insidious example of how the Left works to inhibit and shut down all resistance to jihad terror and Sharia oppression.

The “report” claims to track “more than 650 separate anti-Muslim incidents across the country since 2012. These incidents include public denunciations of Islam and Muslims by elected officials, proposed laws targeting Muslim religious practice, mosque vandalism, and acts of violence.” It claims that there is no “spike” in “anti-Muslim activity” after jihad terror attacks, but only after “folks running for elected office” use “megaphones to talk about how dangerous Muslims are.”

The idea here is to claim that “anti-Muslim activity” is simply gratuitous bigotry, and if people would just stop talking about how dangerous Muslims are, there would be no more “anti-Muslim activity.” So at heart, this article is a call for restrictions on the freedom of speech, to end critical speech about Islam and Muslims and bring the public discourse more in compliance with Sharia blasphemy laws.

In service of this, the NAF presents an argument that is fundamentally incoherent. “Anti-Muslim activities” include “public denunciations of Islam and Muslims by elected officials” and are fueled by “folks running for elected office” who use “megaphones to talk about how dangerous Muslims are.” So politicians talking about the dangers of Islam leads to politicians talking about the dangers of Islam? Got it.

And in reality, why are these politicians (who? when?) supposedly denouncing Islam? Why is anyone calling for “laws targeting Muslim religious practice,” by which is meant anti-Sharia laws (which don’t really target Muslim religious practice at all, but only the elements of Sharia that contradict American laws and freedoms)? Because of jihad terror activity. So this study that purports to show that “anti-Muslim activity” isn’t a reaction to jihad terror at all, but to politicians’ rhetoric, fails to note the obvious, that the politicians’ rhetoric is itself a reaction to jihad terror.

What’s more, the whole idea that opposition to jihad terror and the elements of Sharia that violate American law is “anti-Muslim” contradicts the claim that Muslims in America overwhelmingly reject jihad terror and accept American laws and principles of human rights. If they do, then why is opposition to jihad terror and Sharia oppression “anti-Muslim”?

In response to all this, if they deign to take any notice of these points at all, Murtaza Hussain and Maryam Saleh will just charge me with “Islamophobia.” And the whole cycle will begin again.

“Bigoted Election Campaigns, Not Terror Attacks, Drive Anti-Muslim Activity,” by Murtaza Hussain and Maryam Saleh, The Intercept, March 11, 2018:

An upsurge in anti-Muslim activities across the United States in recent years has tracked closely with changes in the political cycle, according to data released in a new report by the New America Foundation. The report, “Anti-Muslim Activities in the United States: Violence, Threats, and Discrimination at the Local Level,” tracks more than 650 separate anti-Muslim incidents across the country since 2012. These incidents include public denunciations of Islam and Muslims by elected officials, proposed laws targeting Muslim religious practice, mosque vandalism, and acts of violence.

According to the data, these incidents have markedly increased in recent years, with public attitudes toward Islam and Muslims darkening significantly. But it’s not clear that these attitudes are being driven solely by acts of terror committed by Muslim terrorism. Several major terrorist attacks that took place during the period of the study did not produce a surge in recorded anti-Muslim incidents. Those attacks that did coincide with increased anti-Muslim incidents came in particular political contexts. The largest spike in the incidents came after the November 2015 terrorist strike in Paris, but the attack at the Bataclan came as the 2016 presidential campaign was getting into full swing, with Donald Trump’s candidacy propelling anti-Muslim sentiment into the spotlight.

“Looking at the statistics it is clear that the rise in these incidents are tied to the election cycle,” said Robert McKenzie, a senior fellow at New America and the author of the report. “If spikes in anti-Muslim activity only occurred due to terrorism we would expect to see more incidents following high-profile attacks like the Boston Marathon bombing and Charlie Hebdo, but we didn’t. What we do have are folks running for elected office who are using megaphones to talk about how dangerous Muslims are.”…
